Conference Overview

New Mexico Public Education Department is pleased to announce a call for presenters for the 2026 New Mexico Attendance Conference. This conference will bring together educators, administrators, policymakers, and community leaders to explore effective strategies for improving school attendance and reducing chronic absenteeism. We invite dynamic and engaging presenters to share research, best practices, and innovative solutions that support student attendance and success.

Presentation Topics

We welcome proposals on a variety of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Addressing chronic absenteeism

  • Family and community engagement in attendance improvement

  • Early intervention strategies

  • Root cause analysis and interventions

  • Communication with students/parents

  • Team configuration and combining teams

  • The impact of mental health and trauma on attendance

  • Data-driven approaches to tracking and improving attendance and what worked

  • Reentry plans

  • Legal and policy considerations in attendance enforcement

  • Equity and inclusion in attendance initiatives

  • Strategies for engaging students in learning and attendance improvement and connecting to college and career readiness

  • Student voice about their attendance journey

  • Student success stories

  • Home visit success stories

Proposal Submission Guidelines

Interested presenters must submit a proposal that includes the following:

  • Presenter Information: Full name, title, organization, and contact details

  • Presentation Title: A concise and engaging title

  • Abstract: A 250-500 word summary describing the session content, objectives, and relevance to the conference theme

  • Learning Objectives: Key takeaways for attendees

  • Intended Audience Level: (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)

  • Session Format: (Workshop, Panel Discussion, Keynote, Interactive Session)

  • Time Allotment: (45 minutes, 60 minutes, etc.)

  • Audio/Visual Needs: Specify any technical requirements

Selection Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the conference theme

  • Clarity and organization of the proposal

  • Engagement potential for attendees

  • Presenter's expertise and experience in the subject matter

Submission Process

All proposals must be submitted by March 9th, 2026  via PDF document upload via the Click Here to Submit button at top of this website. Presenters will be notified of the selection decision by March 18th, 2026.

Presenter Expectations

  • Selected presenters are expected to provide high-quality, engaging presentations.

  • Presenters must submit final presentation materials by April 15th, 2026.

  • Conference organizers will provide standard A/V equipment for in-person sessions. 

Presenter Benefits:

  • Mileage reimbursement for presenters traveling more than 60 miles outside of Las Cruces.

  • Complimentary hotel lodging provided for eligible presenters.
